Destination Germany: winter all year round at the Snow Dome

We are going to the town of Bispingen in Lower Saxony, which is not a huge place. It does have some pretty countryside and hills to climb but that is not what we are going to be talking about today. Today I have something special to show you!

Recently we talked about how the spring is here and the weather is warming up. But that doesn’t mean you still can’t enjoy the winter year round here in Germany. Here you can chill in the cold and enjoy cold weather sports. I'm talking about a lot more than just ice skating or hockey. You can actually go skiing all year if you take a trip to Bispingen and go to the Snow Dome!

Think of a huge building that is filled with snow and cold-weather activities. There is, of course a skiing area and slopes for all skill levels. There is a downhill park for snowboarders to show off their tricks.

Something I thought was really cool is the ice tower! It's like one of those climbing rocks where you are strapped in and climb up a wall, but this wall is made of ice!

They also have kind of like a family area where kids can just have fun playing in the snow. And right now they have an artists making ice sculptures of animals! And while most come for the snow activities of course, there are also outdoor non-snowy things to do like a skateboard park and slacklining.

How much time you need really just depends on how much you want to ski and have fun playing in the snow. They sell tickets by the hour or by the day. Also, they have two restaurants up there when you get hungry as well as a resort hotel you can stay at if you want to play for more than a day.
